Eligible candidates can obtain a certificate in as little as 12 weeks with minimal to no cost.

How it works

Michigan Works! Southeast offers services to individuals who are currently underemployed, unemployed or looking for a career change. Their unique approach provides access to customized services that have been developed to help you transition into a quality career.

Michigan Works! Southeast provides offerings in a variety of areas, including career services, veteran services, trainings, workshops and events, and more.

To be eligible for the Moving Careers Forward program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in classes and within 12 months of program completion. 
  • Demonstrates a need for financial assistance for tuition or educational expenses.
  • Unemployed or recently laid-off and actively seeking training opportunities.
  • Holds a high school diploma or possesses a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. 
  • Has accumulated some academic credits and demonstrates a commitment to earning a credential. 
  • Shows interest in pursuing courses for the first time. 
  • For those lacking a GED, Michigan Works! Southeast will provide assistance to complete it, enabling them to apply for Workforce Development programs.
